Klavier writes songs about seizing the day and throwing caution to the wind. Songs that Apollo hates. However, it's possible that certain amateur music critics know at least as much about recklessness as musicians.

Calamity Jane is possibly the queerest film of all time. The central character spends almost the entire film cross dressed and every single one of the major characters cross dresses figuratively or literally - usually literally - at central moments of the story.

I want to write a defense of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. No, I want to write a celebration of it. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is a MGM musical produced in 1954, and it rocks.

This is a sarcastic, irreverent work full or criticism and snarky comments. If you don't want to see Revolution whomped a bit, please don't read this. There's also a bit of inside Tumblr humor, but hopefully that doesn't distract from the overall work.

Story: Officially Tyler was a marketing intern charged with tracking fan response to show developments and updating the Revolution web page. In practice he spent four hours a day trolling message boards under 35 different fake identities trying to convince people that the show was logical and scientifically sound. The rest of his work hours were spent reading porn and making spreadsheets.

    Summary

A complete series of episode reviews written after re-watching all three seasons of Star Trek (the original series) between 2011-2013. Each review consists of a plot synopsis (rendered as entertaining as possible) followed by analysis/reflection. These reviews were originally posted on LiveJournal. I am crossposting them here, where it is much easier to keep the whole series in one place.

I first became a fan of TOS in the 1980s when I was an adolescent girl. I am now a middle-aged lesbian who, let's say, knows a lot more about gender issues than I did back then. There will be some discussion of same. If you're not interested in gender politics, you might not have a whole lot of fun with these reviews. If you are, though, you may discover that gender in TOS is actually more complicated--a Vulcan might even call it fascinating--than it might at first appear.

I love the show, but I do not love it uncritically. I believe there is much to be learned by asking the question: Exactly why and how did this particular episode get this bad?

Oh, also, I see slash people. But in TOS, believe me, it's there. And not just because we want it to be there, either. Enjoy!
