Summary
Medic is a free man once more. His wife has agreed to divorce him, as they both no longer feel the need for each other. What restrictions he felt before have been removed, and he has been able to accept more of himself than ever before.
Demoman has become progressively lonelier, to a point where he is willing to accept any form of relationship from anyone, be it just a friendship or more.
A series of events and revealing conversations allow the two to become friends instead of just teammates, and it doesn't take long before something more develops between the two.

It's like Crowley's Aston-Martin from Good Omens, except instead of Freddie Mercury, any iPod left in the car will inevitably fill itself with Nickelback songs."
"Shut up," Derek says, glaring at the complicated and completely unnecessary GPS system and wondering if he should forego safety for a cooler option, like a Vespa. Fucking Stiles. At least this car has a decent-sized back seat, he thinks, and immediately pretends he didn't. "And put on your seat belt."

The pickup truck was painted a deep shade of purple, and a cloud of red dust ran out behind it like a cape. Sitting on the bumper of his broken-down Rambler Cross Country, Charles saw it coming from a long way off.
He stood up and waved his arms, and the truck pulled over to the side of the road opposite of him. Charles tried to get a look at the person behind the wheel, but he was blinded temporarily by a flash of sunlight reflecting off the shining chrome of the truck’s forked hood ornament.
