The irony doesn’t escape him, no, but he hears ‘wait for him to wake up’ instead of ‘might never wake up.’ Maybe both are right, but Kon only gets the full meaning of them when Babs sobs, and Steph pulls Damian into a hug and Dick looks at him, devastated, and apologizes for something he can’t be blamed for. Dr. Reid seems unsure of what to do, he apologizes too, looks down and says he’ll give them a minute.
