A quote pulled from the story: 'Once inside, Austin turned to Mickey and said, "Now, tell me again why I'm going to see a psychic."'
My comments: Fast-paced, in-character, and with clear and elegantly simple prose, this story reads just like an episode, which is what Paula calls it. There's some nice hurt/comfort and great interaction between Mickey and Austin, and a few original characters that really add a lot to the story. I enjoyed it quite a bit when I first read it on the Yahoo! group for Probe and couldn't wait to rec it.

Frankly... not much has changed for me. I'm alive. I'm still breathing. Oh yeah, and just the other day, I took in a cat. He's big for a stray. He looks like he'll be a lot of trouble. But he also looks like a tough one. This time I'm thinking I'll be the first to die.-- Wild Adapter, vol.1

Notes
They land on the city. Valentine sees Lost looking up at the palace on the top of the hill, eyes wide open, knowing that he is fascinated by the gold leaves and rubies covering the wall, and swears to never let him be near the place - in there the tortured people ‘s screams have already been reduced to wimpers, and slaves with heavy metal chains are pulling giant rocks to the underground. He leads him to the cemetery instead. Lost looks around, then his attention is captured by what must be the most beautiful music he has heard.
This is a brilliant look at Valentine and at Lost and Eira too.
