Being a good Starfleet officer and obeying all those spaces, all those goddamn inches and miles between her body and Leonard’s with only their eyes able to bridge the chasm. Only allowing touches in an appropriate place for an appropriately short length of time, and it was all a fucking waste because now they were going to die without truly having lived.
