Written for me for oz magi 2011. This is a brilliant exploration of Beecher and his relationship with Keller. It's full of angst, yearning, desire, hope.

When Judge Lema admitted that her treatment of Toby had been influenced by her own prejudices, they told Toby he was lucky. Told him he’d been given a second chance and to be careful not to screw it up. But they hadn’t lived through what he had. They just didn’t understand.
