Summary
Among the rumblings of a civil war, a chance meeting among Richmond's elite almost goes unnoticed. Mistoffelees Jones is too young to be of much note, however he comes to age during a time of war, and that chance meeting keeps happening. Scattered across the country and battlefields, he keeps running into Coricopat, first as a socialite and then as a solider.
Borderline crossed lovers or not, once the war starts, all Macavity really wants is to get his troops home safely. Even if that includes women disguised as men and men in love with Southern aristocrats.

Except they were right not to return, as a cursed creature waits below the sands, as well as the tribe sworn to prevent it's rising, which will bring the apocalypse in it's wake.

Summary
When the magics were settling on the world, a demonic force was bound into one of the tribes, onto a certain magic. Since then, the Mistoffelees has been trying everything to get back out, using its host to attempt to retake the entire world and remake it in the Magics' image.
It just wasn't counting on the persistent stubbornness of it's current host or the fact that not only was another tribe closing in, but the gods themselves were reconsidering their earlier decisions.
The Jellicles, meanwhile, only find out the Magic is in their midst when it is revealed during the most important night, the Jellicle Ball.
