Reproduced below: my immediate response, word for word
BUTTERFLY SEX. And of course Arthur is a Monarch, and of course Merlin is some godforsaken endangered species of (blue!!) butterfly, and of course the first words out of him are "Hi, friend!" Hunith-butterfly must be so proud of her son's levels of epic adorable ♥ I love everything about this amazing little fic, from the basic premise (THEY'RE BUTTERFLIES!!!) to Merlin's Endangered status giving him priority over Arthur and Arthur getting annoyed about that, to Merlin following Arthur around and supporting him through his molting and Arthur waiting for Merlin to finish metamorphosing so they can embark on the Grand Journey of Life together, to Arthur's confused desires and his forgoing migration because Merlin's happy where they are (I hope that won't come back to bite them later D:) and the mating dance and oh man, you somehow made butterfly sex interesting and even kind of hot. And of course Gwen and Morgana are lepidopterists on the brink of a major discovery *g* Also apparently Merlin is female, or magic or something?
