Summary
DEVIL is the first of three novel-length fics in the FALLING series, a series which will seek to link X-Men: First Class to the events of X1 and X2 (X-Men: Last Stand and the Wolverine film are not canonical to this universe). The intent of these stories is to explain how the characters we saw in FC became who they are in the original two films.
The narrative is seen primarily from Raven's POV, though some chapters will show things from different perspectives, including those of Charles, Erik, Azazel and Remy.
DEVIL explores life in the Brotherhood of Mutants during the first year following the events in Cuba. It deals with Raven's difficulties in adapting to life in the Brotherhood, with a focus on her relationship with Azazel and the eventual birth of Kurt.
Meanwhile, Erik and Charles are struggling toward reconciliation, both in their personal relationship and in their politics. They enter a period of tentative rapprochement, and begin to help one another in recruiting new Mutants into their respective organizations. In the process of doing so, the Brotherhood encounters many other Mutants, including Remy, Toad and Fred Dukes.
DEVIL also contains back-stories for Azazel, Janos, Emma, and Remy.

Movie Ending AU. Erik is merciless after Shaw is dead, taking out Moira and sending the missiles back at the ships that fired them. Charles refuses to join him and they go their separate ways, but he keeps getting in the way and Erik can't allow him to interfere with his plans. More importantly, he can't allow Charles to be hurt.

This was supposed to be their last attempt at recruiting. A girl in Washington, a simple task to be performed between one chess match at the steps of Lincoln Memorial and another, back at the CIA base. But apparently, the Universe didn't like Charles Xavier enough to make it that easy.
After a disastrous end of the recruitment road trip, Charles embarks on another journey and finds himself in a grim world that proves to be more than a nightmare. With the help of a team of exceptional mutant misfits and their surprising leader, Charles races across the US in order to save the man he loves. But the question is - will he be able to do this before he runs out of time?
And is this world truly all that will ever be?

He had been following Xavier's career for years. He had read and reread and reread again everything the man had written. He had tried, on more occasions than he could count, to recruit Xavier into the Brotherhood, but each request for a meeting had been denied. Aside from his work, no one knew anything about Xavier. Not what he looked like, not the full extent of his power--though from what little they did know, he was by far the most powerful telepath in existence--and not what his intentions were.
The man was a recluse. As far as Magneto knew, Xavier had never once stepped foot outside his impenetrable Westchester manor. And now he was scheduled as the keynote speaker for the largest pro-mutant conference in the world.

They probably would have died if he hadn't gone back, and that was why Azazel had done so. He liked very much the idea of having such people beholden to him. Azazel knew also that their reaction to him would be specular, and he enjoyed getting reactions from others. He had much experience in mapping the way an individual might respond to the realization that Azazel had taken his life from him, but he knew less about how someone might react to find that his life had been given back, and he was curious.
They'd rallied around Xavier when he'd appeared on the beach with a swirl of black and red smoke, and the woman had pointed her silly gun at him. There were things he might have said then – clever things, funny things, things that might have cut more sharply than his blades – but his English was a traitorous thing; at moments like this it was apt to abandon him completely. He cocked his head and stared down at Xavier, and felt that this gave the most impressive impression.
