After the death of the Princess Elia in childbed with Aegon, and the mysterious, sudden death of the Mad King at Harrenhall, Rhaegar Targeryen takes the Iron Throne amidst an unstable political climate. Content with raising his daughter and younger siblings after Queen Rhaella dies in childbed, he decides to marry Lyanna Stark and make her his queen. Tensions arise with the Baratheon and Martell families at this action, and Rhaegar finds himself dealing with the growing threat of war from the Stormlands and Dorne.
