Summary
John Watson grew up dreaming of life as a foreign correspondent. In 2001, he began his third year at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. But that was before. Before a plane crashed, his best friend died, and the world became a different place.
Ten years later he’s Captain John Watson: an invalided soldier with a psychosomatic limp, a wounded shoulder, and a chance to write again. His first big assignment brings him face to face with Sebastian Moran, a war criminal awaiting trial in a secret government facility. There's more at stake than John's career--Moran's in the employ of the Recruiter, an elusive crime lord sometimes known as 'Moriarty.'

'If anyone’s reading this – welcome to the blog, if you’re new! – a bit of help would be much appreciated; I’m sort of stuck in the middle of Wales with Sherlock, Mycroft and Lestrade. Sherlock burnt the only map we have for firewood and there’s no GPS signal around here. Why there’s internet signal but no GPS signal I do not know. I’m going to assume that it’s sod’s law and surrender to it.
If it helps anyone work out where we are, it’s definitely in the Brecon Beacons somewhere. I think it’s near that cannibal village from Torchwood, but as of yet we haven’t been eaten.

John looked down at the mess on his shirt and wrinkled his nose at the memory. "I had a row," he sighed, looking back up and meeting Sherlock's eyes, "with my practice Potions' cauldron."
"You had a row with a cauldron?" Sherlock's eyebrow lifted delicately.
"In a manner of speaking."
Smiling, Sherlock disappeared behind his papers again, his voice quiet but edged with humour as he said, "I suspect the cauldron won that round."

John visits Gringott's for the first time, gets a beard- ahem, girlfriend- and learns a little about Sherlock's past as the twosome try to solve a smuggling case. Plot will be similar (but not identical) to that of The Blind Banker.
(Reading the first part would be preferable, but not necessarily required if you've seen the show and read HP. You might be a little lost, but I think you'll manage.)(This work is now complete, but because I do my own beta-ing I'll be doing some minor tweaking and editing until I consider it as flawless as I can manage.)
