Summary
Clint's been having nightmares – nightmares about someone called Mama.
The nightmares are vivid-sometimes he can’t tell if he’s awake or not and that scares him more than anything. He’s supposed to be able to focus in on anything- he’s the eyes of the Avengers not being able to see and decipher reality from fiction could destroy what he believes to be his already unstable position on the Avengers. He wishes that he could just blame the nightmares on Loki but the trickster hasn’t been the focus of any of his nightmares since the 2 weeks after the whole invasion incident.
He’s losing sleep at night and sinking back into his old habits of ignoring the problem, drinking himself silly and taking refuge in the beds and embraces of one night stands. He has no idea if he’s losing it or not and he knows better than to say something to the other Avengers because that would only lead to him getting kicked off the team and losing his new home and new family. As the reawakened presence slowly starts to reinsert itself into Clint's life the Avengers start to realized that whatever this thing is that it might end up taking away their archer and they won't let that happen. -

I don't know when I'll post more. Please also note-- I will delete any comments that tell me 1) I OWE it to fandom finish this fic, or 2) Comic Book Guy rants that I have made grievous canon errors.
Re-writing a 9000 word chapter with astrophysics and Norse mythology ain't easy, and I do have an outline and a specific set of plans for each main character in this fic. Perceived errors may be just that. And while I would love to finish, first I have to finish the chapter I lost. Re-writing two months' worth of research isn't something I have time for in the foreseeable future.
Many thanks to all of you who have been so patient and have read, re-read, left kudos & such generous comments. You're wondrous.
--They might be flawed and have things to work out, but all the Avengers share conviction. And Tony Stark's robots. And Clint's waffles. Plus all the after-Avenging food forays and Darcy's playlist. Everything else will work itself out in the end.
