Questions have been asked and debates have raged about the nature of the Qunari, who they really are, where they come from, and what their intentions are for Thedas. Answers have ranged from the vague and fantastical to real-world cultural juggernauts. Reactions have varied just as greatly. This is not a work of fanfiction but rather a multi-part essay detailing the Qunari from one of BioWare's primary sources of inspiration: Plato's Republic. Basic living conditions, the military and its aims, philosophy and religion, love, and matters of the soul will all be discussed in turn with the intention of better understanding the fictional culture we have only so far seen a glimpse of.
