When the Doctor kidnapped a pair of human schoolteachers from a junkyard in central London, he was 572 years old, and living on a stolen type-40 time capsule with a girl named Susan. No mention was ever made of how he got there. For nearly 400 years afterward, he continued his self-imposed exile on a whirlwind tour through time and space, saving planets, rescuing civilizations, defeating terrible creatures. Until the Time War came and brought him crashing back home.
This is the story of the parts we didn't see. This is the story of Theta, before he tasted grief and ran from it.
