In which Gondor finds its borders threatened by an unknown enemy who seems to be determined to undermine the kingdom from inside as well, the Steward is in grave danger, and a certain elf may find out he's not as immortal as he thinks he is, but certain bonds will not be broken, and Arwen, a resourceful Faramir, and a new arrival from Mirkwood manage to turn the tide.

To do that, to make Arthur work for the control he feels entitled to, to make him fight for it. What must that feel like? It's an interesting notion, to say the least. But it's just a notion, and Merlin thinks it'll always stay that way.

Filled with the bittersweet sadness of the Elves, it's a short vignette that touches briefly--very briefly--on how difficult it is for an immortal to understand death, and an attempt to cope with their different choices regarding those deaths.
