Summary
Fenris somehow discovers a loophole in Tevinter law regarding ownership of slaves, one that could remove any legal grounds Danarius has to pursue him: a magister's child by a slave is a freeman, and to ensure that the child is given its birthright, any slave pregnant by a magister becomes the property of the father. Tradition dictates that the slave is returned to the former owner after the child is born, but the law doesn't require it. Fenris only needs to get pregnant by a mage and unfortunately the only mage he knows is Anders.

When he slept however he felt his mind separate from Justice, the spirit unable to travel back to the Fade along the delicate tendrils of slumber. When he slept Anders felt like himself, Anders the Grey Warden, Anders the irreverent who had oogled a statue of Andraste, Anders the escape artist.
Anders the Mage, who believed in his cause but wasn’t so consumed by it that the pleasures of life passed him by.
He missed that.

Summary
Written (as always!) in response to a prompt on the Dragon Age Kinkmeme. On one of his earlier escape attempts from the Circle, Anders makes it as far as Tevinter, but it's not the liberation he'd hoped for. Many years later, as part of Danarius's retinue, he meets up with the gang in Kirkwall during Act 3--but as a very different man. Hawke often enjoyed exploration after a skirmish, to cool his blood by picking through a vanquished foe’s meaningless effects. There were times when Fenris permitted it as a personal indulgence, and times when, for whatever reason, he did not.
