Summary
In a world where myth, mystery, and the supernatural flourish beneath the veneer of modern civilization, Sherlock is a master of magic as well as science and deduction. But there are some things that he cannot see, riddles he cannot unravel, even when they walk right beside him in the form of one John Watson…
This is the second story in the Fallen series. One should read Fallen first, otherwise this probably won't make much sense. ;)

I cannot say enough good things about mamishka's entire "Fallen" series! It's hefty, complexly plotted, well researched, and tweaks the world of Sherlock into an urban fantasy AU that is populated by creatures out of folklore and legend that are treated with well-informed respect, nuance and mystery. Each of the episodes is tweaked into a supernatural mystery that calls back to the original episode, but is unpredictable and in most cases improves on the original in complexity and suspense. And Sherlock and John are recognizably themselves, but facing unique struggles, burdens and questions due to who and what they are in this setting and the roles they occupy.

Melancholy beauty that captures the rhythm of the epics. Alas, poor Aratta. Better it would seem not to catch the eye of the goddess.
