The year is 2046, and it's been a long time since the last pandemic. The leading insurance company, ACTus, has set up in Pittsburgh, taking over UPMC, and a select team of doctors at their main hospital, ACTus DEI, is put to the test when they must fight a new, unmatched disease called Amaranthine.
The prelude to a forthcoming tale about the characters Kristoff and Aura from Dragon Age: Awakening. Theirs is obviously a tragic and beautiful love, cut horribly short by Kristoff's death at the hands of the darkspawn in the Blackmarsh, but what of the story that comes before? How did they meet? How did they fall in love? And how did an Orlesian Warden with a Fereldan accent come to know the criminal underworld of Amaranthine so well? How does an Orlesian woman come to own a house in Amaranthine, when her husband is stationed in Orlais?
The inconsistencies in their story deserved to be resolved, and in attempting to do so, the story became so much larger than I had anticipated. This is a prequel of sorts, the story of both their families as the tale wends towards their first meeting, the moment when love is kindled for the first time between two unlikely souls. Our story begins over thirty years before the two of them even meet for the first time, and twenty years before either of them are even born.
To be followed by Kristoff and Aura's tale, A Love Extraordinary.

What? Lead? Alistair? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when he leads: Crows become Wardens, Orlesians come to Ferelden, and a king is lost without his armor.
