He doesn't even notice the way he makes room for Fun Ghoul until it's done, until there's a spot just for him that would be cold and empty if Ghoul ever walked away.

Frank-- tired of Gerards constant drunk-and-high state-- leaves the band for good, not ever wanting to look back. But after an incident with a glass bottle he finds himself in the future, where an evil company called BL/ind have taken over the world. Future Gerard-- with the help of Mikey and Ray-- have got to convince him that by leaving the band, the future of the world is at stake, and the lives of thousands of people: including themselves.

Their lives now are always somewhere on the seven stages of grief, and each day is another step, forwards or back.
They died, but didn't, and you always need some time to pick up the pieces after a death.
This was originally intended to be a longer fic, but while it cuts off rather abruptly at the end, it's not a completely bizarre place to end it.
