Summary
Set after the episode The Surgeon. While Alan Virdon is recovering from surgery for a gunshot wound, the fugitives take refuge in the idyllic village of Dagon, where humans are treated well by a progressive chimpanzee Prefect. Galen strikes up a friendship with the Prefect but learns a hard lesson when he must rely on that friendship to get Pete Burke out of trouble. The gorilla who oversees the human work force takes a dislike to Pete; the tension between them builds until Pete does something rash and foolish. Galen is forced to make some hard choices that could forever alter his friendship with the two humans as well as his perception of his own species.
