The silence was back. This time though Matt was staring into Ali's eyes just begging him for an answer. He knew he'd lost it but that was just it. Maybe he was lost.
"I'm serious, man. What's wrong with me, Ali? Why can't I just be happy and sing my songs. I'm not even happy singing other people's songs any more. I can't relate to any of them any more. Maybe I never could, but now it's as if the words are coming out half-formed. It's like the light has gone out. I'm just lying all the time."
Ali shifted in his chair, started flicking his fingers to fire the grains on the countertop towards Matt as if he was trying to score a goal, and maybe he was. Maybe he was.
"Okay Matt, you brought it up, let's talk about it."
A year on from winning the X Factor. A conversation between Matt and Ali about connections and disconnections, singing girls songs and accepting that sometimes labels mean nothing at all. But most of all, about love and acceptance.

"Matt felt Aiden settle closer into him. More than that, and he maybe wasn't doing it on purpose (but then again, it was Aiden), he rolled his shoulders. Grinding them slowly across Matt's crotch. The invitation to continue what he was doing couldn't have been clearer. Now instead of merely letting the hairs waterfall across his raised fingers he started to grasp and twist them instead. Twirling them into fine tightly spun ropes. Starting with his fingertip circling over Aiden's scalp, loving how the hair tried to attach itself to his own dry skin. Tongue and groove that would never quite match. Instead catching, interleaving for the tiniest split second, like a thorn snagging against him over and over."

So this would be the one where you get a shower of Maiden, and Aiden with his arms above his head ;-) Maiden style eggs, "recipe" included. bottom!matt and bottom!aiden. A weird cardigan as condom metaphor which I didn't realise I'd written until after I read it back. A blink and you'll miss it game of hide and seek involving that certain blue object. A stupid bit of daddy!matt and sub!aiden, but being Maiden they totally suck at it because they end up laughing, but that's okay, because that's what does it for them. And, oh yes, and your storyteller apologises for being a tease & also for putting a thought in to her listener's head that will either disgust or intrigue them. Aiden's still too much in shock to decide his feelings on the matter ;-)
