A clink of ceramic hitting the countertop interrupted him, and then an event that was surely one of the signs of the Apocalypse occurred.
South started to sing.

This is THE Freelancer fic. Perfectly in tone with the canon, beautiful set up, masterfully done. Breaks my heart that it appears abandoned.
