    Summary

The Sofie Series is compliant with the canon from the first series of the BBC's Sherlock and assumes knowledge of the episodes up to and including "The Great Game."

In this series, John Watson and Sherlock Holmes are both recovering from serious injuries sustained in the explosion at the pool after "The Great Game." Jim Moriarty continues to lurk in the shadows and dog the steps of everyone close to Sherlock.

These stories feature canonical characters and introduce original character Sofie Lestrade, the young daughter of widower Detective Inspector Lestrade, who lives in London with her maternal grandmother but sees her father whenever his work permits.

If desired, "The Shadow Boys Are Breaking" may be read as a prequel to this series.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Lovely present-tense Sherlock POV. I think his internal voice is hard to get right, and I like this version of it very much. Lots of nested parentheticals and whatnot, just the way you have to suspect his mind works. Sexy and angsty and with a unique take on Mary and her ... situational morality. She isn't an assassin in this one.

(This is the one where Sherlock plays Tchaikovsky for John even though it's trite, and he has a beautiful new violin bow.)

    Summary

John Watson knew when he somehow fell into an alternate universe where he was a Bond Omega dating Robin Hood, or possibly if Molly was to be believed a demiurge of chaotic good. That he liked it was unreasonable, irrational, and a bit not good.

Sherlock Holmes knew the precise moment when he pair bonded. Three retorts and a biological impulse.

Irene Adler knew when love died. She spent all her days plotting to salt and burn the earth where it still walked.

    Summary

John's a bit apprehensive about spending a pre-holiday weekend with Sherlock's family and, it turns out, not without reason: Mummy is determined to find her youngest son a more 'suitable' mate, Sherlock's completely oblivious, and, as usual, it's up to Mycroft to save the day. Though, of course, when you're at the Holmes', nothing is ever quite so simple.

    A Johnlock Christmas story.
