Summary
I called out. "Would you like to hear a ghost story?"
For a moment Jack didn't move, and I knew he'd recognized my voice. After a moment he said, flatly, "I don't believe in ghosts."
"It's a complicated story," I admitted, and pulled the watch from my pocket by the chain. "And it starts with 'Long ago and far away.'"

Summary
Young Scottish soprano Moira MacTaggert is a rising star at the New York Metropolitan Opera, tutored by the mysterious Opera Ghost. At least, he would be mysterious...if her childhood friend Charles Xavier didn’t keep pestering her about the brilliant mutant mind he can clearly sense hiding in the opera house, and Moira was too stupid to tell the difference between an Angel of Music and someone hiding behind her mirror.

Notes
Complete, long, well-written plotty romance. An excellent Sentinel AU with Robert Downey Junior's Sherlock as a powerful Dark Sentinel in London and Jude Law's Watson as a powerful, newly-awakened Guide just returned from Army service in Afghanistan.
In a universe where Sentinels and Guides are known, Holmes and Watson still break all the rules and give Lestrade grey hairs.
There are several side-plots, lots of politics, teamwork, crime fighting, empathy, Sentinel-type spirit world & visions, and hot sex at the end.
