Sherlock's time is limited, so he tends to focus on acquiring the knowledge he finds most necessary in the quickest and most convenient way possible—which, yes, frequently means that he tends towards the theoretical over the practical, especially when the theory is widely explored, frequently elaborated, and easily accessible.
"So you mean," John says, a little thickly, "you've watched a lot of porn," and Irene drops down onto her stomach on the floor with her hair falling around her face and laughs and laughs and laughs.
Unbeta'ed and un-Britpicked; briefly audienced by Roane to ensure that it was actually written in English but that's it. To be honest, this is a writing exercise gone massively out of control. Read at your own risk and OMG, no, really, I'm so sorry. /o\

For some reason, imprisonment after his failed invasion of Midgard does not solve all Loki's problems, and it certainly doesn't solve all of Odin's. Now his adopted son is in a suicidal funk, and his son and heir Thor can't seem to stop worrying about him.
Well, they certainly can't let the God of Chaos loose to cause more trouble, and so Odin works out a way for him to get a little freedom without leaving his cell. There is a door, and behind the door, there is another world and time. Loki's so far gone in his depression, that he half wonders if he'll even use it...
I will warn you right now, this one is weird. I didn't expect it to be as weird as it is... But I don't want to un-weird it, because by now, the weirdness is the story. Let's just say it plays with alternate realities, and there is way too much theoretical physics in here for its own good.

There was a needle in his neck.
Richard turned quickly, already having to fight what had been injected into his bloodstream.
“Jim,” he whined, reaching out for his brother. Jim was smiling at him, leering. It made Richard scared.
“Hush, bunny, it won’t hurt,” Jim soothed, taking Richard’s book from him and setting it on the coffee table.
“Jim,” Richard repeated, the word tight and quiet and afraid. Jim helped his twin to his feet, guiding him into the bedroom, siding him when he whined or whimpered or tried to protest. -

Based on a prompt: Bilbo loses his memory after Thorin throws/pushes him off a cliff in his rage, and Thorin, mad with worry and realizing his stupidity and love for Bilbo, tells him the truth about everything when he wakes up--except he twists Bilbo's experiences to 1) make it seem like they were lovers and 2) make sure Bilbo never finds out what he did.
