Love, love, love this series! It is a must read if you are a Riley fan and pretty dang 'ooh, I should read that' if you are a Spike fan. If you are a fan of the two together, then what are you doing here? Go, go go. Be warned, this story has alot - I say, alot - of sex, and it ain't all pretty. There are glimpses of darkness in the sex and some sub/dom feeling that actually transfers between the two a bit, but nothing formalized and nothing that should keep you from reading the story if that isn't your thing; it isn't mine in the least and it didn't bother me. However, there is alot of violence, some of it ugly, and BIG warning, there is a description of torture later in the story that was way way waay too detailed for my taste - just know it's coming so you can skip it if you want to; doing so will in no way take away from understanding the aftermath. Don't mistake it though, this series is a love story; but there are some ugly times and ugly thoughts ahead, and some of the prose is overwrought, but there is real feeling and real growth here and a deep exploration of what can damage a person and what can heal. And how two people can heal each other - with help from those who are there around them, both major and minor. The original secondary characters are fantastic and the use of other characters from Angel and BtVS is on point.
