Summary
The Sandman, Sandy to his new found (in relation to his time as a Guardian) friends, remembered how it felt. How it felt to awaken and be alone with only the Man in the Moon, and he was just only a bit more talkative then Sandy himself, something Sandy might have even found amusing, were it anyone else but him, along.
He remembers what the others never had to face; a world of being walk through and ignored and unseen, until the children he guarded began to believe and his power grew until he could give the whole globe dreams of golden sand.
It doesn't matter that he hasn't been walked through in centuries, he can still remember it, it still makes him shake and his eyes fall to the ground in sadness before he remembers the children, the children who all believe in him and need him and he's off again.
So in tune as he was with his streams of golden dream sand that he knew the instant they were disturbed.
He had feared the worst.
But his fear had nothing on what he actually found.
