Summary
John has been Grounded ever since Afghanistan, his left wing inexplicably crippled by phantom pain while his shoulder carries the scars from the actual injury. He misses the thrill of flying high over the desert, wings spread to catch the thermals as he glares down at the landscape below. He doesn't miss the excruciating pain of being shot out of the sky.
After getting back to the UK, his options are looking pretty bleak.
Then he meets Sherlock.
