All around them, the busy sounds of the cosy cafe around the corner from SHIELD’s New York offices ebbed and flowed, but Maria paid it little more attention than it had taken to note all the entry and exit points and discount any threats. The coffeeshop had become a bit of a tradition amongst the senior agents, because one thing you learnt fast at SHIELD was that coffee was as necessary as breathing. More so, if your name was Coulson.
Coffee and gossip is how SHIELD operates.
It's also a way to learn new things about your coworkers.

Coulson smiled, his eyes holding a sharp edge underneath the amusement. “Officially, I’m not here,” he said, taking a sip of his martini. “I’m in my office filling out copious amounts of Avengers-related paperwork.”
Natasha smirked. “Therefore making sure none of the Avengers will dare to disturb you, in case you make them help,” she said. “And the junior agents will avoid your office just in case you’re in a bad mood.”
Coulson’s smile turned smug. “Exactly.”After work drinks are a tradition of senior agents too. It's just a pity they won't stop teasing Coulson...

Summary
Sometimes, world crises and dangerous top-secret missions permitting, SHIELD agents actually got to enjoy a lunch break. It was rare and novel enough that they were usually determined to enjoy every second of it. Agent Sitwell and Maria Hill were sitting with Phil at their favourite table (the one with the clear lines of sight of the kitchens and several nearby points of exit); or rather Sitwell and Phil were sitting. Maria was slumped over, her head resting face-down on her arms and was apparently glaring at the table cloth.

Clint felt the bed shift as Phil got up and immediately missed the extra warmth. With a sigh, he gave in. Climbing to his feet, he rubbed sleep from his eyes and tried not to be too irritated about that way his morning was turning about to be less than perfect. This was not how he’d always imagined the morning after his wedding; in his mind there’d always been more sex and less supervillains.
Sometimes, being a SHIELD agent really sucked.

Bruce had to admit that as plans went, this was probably the least painful Stark plan he’d ever been part of. So far, all he’d had to do was leave his comfortable spot on the couch and lie in wait for Agent Coulson and Clint. It could have been a hell of a lot worse, so Bruce was grateful. Privately, Bruce thought this was a bit short-sighted, since there was no doubt two SHIELD-trained agents would be able to spot Thor, Tony and Bruce watching them, but so far nothing disastrous had happened, despite both Thor and Tony having all the subtlety of large explosions.
Tony tries to figure out what's going on between Clint and Phil.

Also, Pepper would probably kill him because somehow Tony found himself back in a bar less than twenty-four hours since he’d last dragged Thor out of one. In his defense, it was pretty hard to investigate someone without being in their presence and when Clint had decided to go out for a beer, Tony had immediately agreed to go with him. No matter what Bruce said, there was something going on between Clint and Agent Coulson and Tony was determined to get to the bottom of it, even if he had to resort to the subtle art of alcohol-influenced interrogation.
Tony is determined to find out the truth.

Clint grunted, before Phil felt him wriggle around until he was using Phil’s stomach as a pillow. Looking down, Phil found Clint’s blue eyes staring up at him with mischief and humour. And he was beautiful. Oh, Phil knew Clint could be stubborn, driven and determined when he thought he was right and wilfully insubordinate when he chose to be, but he was also loyal and giving and heartbreakingly brave and sometimes Phil wondered exactly what he’d done to deserve someone like Clint in his life. The fact that Clint had agreed to marry him and the proof glinted dully on his left hand just made it all the sweeter.

Tony, meanwhile, inexplicably began choking on the air in his lungs. “Oh my God,” he said when he could finally breathe again.
Coulson pulled back from the kiss and then arched an eyebrow in silent conversation with Clint. Clint shrugged, smirking as he reached for his coffee. “Morning,” Clint said.
Tony watched them, before he pointed an accusing finger at Clint as he got to his feet in a rush. “Oh my God, you are sleeping with Coulson!” he said.
“It is one of the perks of being married,” Coulson told Tony dryly.
Tony’s mouth dropped open and he gaped wordlessly.Tony finally finds out the truth about Phil and Clint.
