From 1976-1977, Gareth Hunt and Joanna Lumley played opposite each other as Mike Gambit and Purdey in "The New Avengers." They had great chemistry, and the actors remained friends for 30 years, until Gareth's death in 2007. However, despite how much they enjoyed working together, they went on to star in only two projects together, and shared screentime in only one of them, a single scene that involved barely any interaction between them. Because of that, I thought it would be fun to have characters played by Gareth and Joanna in other series interact with one another, so we'd have people who looked like Purdey and Gambit sharing scenes without actually *playing* Purdey and Gambit. I did it once with "Sapphire and Steel" and "Upstairs, Downstairs," and then ended up doing it again. And again. So I thought it'd be a good idea to stick them all together, just in case I do more. Just a bit of fun with some of the characters played by two of my favourite actors. :-)
