Summary
Sherlock found himself reluctant to put words to the question burning in his mind. He wasn’t sure if he could handle the answer. Sherlock silently told himself that it didn’t matter, that forming relationships with people would only slow him down, but the mantra turned to ash and disintegrated by the third repetition. John wasn’t ‘people’. He was the bright, shining example of what separated Sherlock from Moriarty.
