There was a time when magic was a part of life and beings that became myths walked the earth. What most people didn't realise was that some of those living myths-to-be would continue to walk the earth, for they were immortal.

Notes:

When I wrote my first Merlin fic I didn't expect it to become part of a crossover series but the chance to include Highlander immortals was too good to turn down, particularly when a certain piece of casting in Series 2, episode 9 came to light. I also wanted to tell something of Gaius' story - he was young once himself, after all. This is the end result; it has my interpretation of Gaius' back story *and* immortals...
