When one prays the Rosary in real life, one meditates on stages in the life of Christ. Traditionally, these are collected into three sets: the Joyful Mysteries (from His birth and childhood), Sorrowful Mysteries (from His death), and the Glorious Mysteries (from His resurrection and beyond). Praying the Rosary is a way to venerate the Virgin Mary and her hand in raising Jesus Christ.
The Dolorosan Mysteries are meant as (very) loose analogues, which is to say that perhaps when members of the cult of the Sufferer meditate on similar stages from the life of the Signless, these are the stories they think of. My inspiration for the stories themselves comes primarily from hymns and plainsong, as well as from the lives of Mary and Jesus.
This series is a work in progress that I don't expect will ever reach a point where it feels "complete." I add new stories when I'm inspired to write them and hope that they're enjoyable to anyone who comes across them, regardless of their familiarity with the Catholic tradition. I welcome comments, questions, and constructive criticism on the stories and their content.
