Comment on Cunning And Ambition - Book 6

  1. Alright, I've basically got to respond to this one, don't I?

Yeah, Book Five was a bad time for everyone. There's a very simple reason we chose to do this - things don't always work out.

It doesn't matter how strong the Malfoys are, or how much Harry's friends care, or what his relationship with Snape is like. Sometimes people just don't notice things, or don't understand. Especially when it's with an abused child like Harry, who is highly experienced at hiding himself, and doubly so when it's just a farfetched idea. Perhaps if the adults had sought to consult the children about what they were experiencing with Harry, they might have realized, but let's be honest. Adults don't do that. Children - especially teenagers - are thought to be moody and unreliable, which is what Harry seemed to be, so why would they check? Only Dumbledore and Severus had any ideas otherwise, and Harry was pushing away Sev.

Okay, that's a jumble of text, but I just felt the need to defend our decisions, because Book Five was our big departure from the idealistic world of being a child into adulthood for Harry, and it backfired in a big way. The idea was realism, no matter how harsh it was.

Thank you for your review, and glad you've been enjoying the series!
