    While I won't deny I like him a bit flawed, I also can't deny that in most universes he does indeed come across as you write here: a father figure.

    Though I can understand his feelings in the last line. ^^

      I have found that looking at G1 with adult eyes is unsettling and heart-rending, that Bayverse makes me grit my teeth, and that Prime leaves me shaking my head... because I'm still looking for the paladin with the heart of gold where Optimus stands. So, yeah, sitting in the unpopular camp of wanting the noble idiot instead of the flawed leader.

      +makes face+ I'm not saying I don't like exploring flaws and shades and meanings of the characters. I just think that's where fanfic excels and rather hate seeing things like "Optimus is a Dick" being thrown about with reason about CANON.
