Yes, I confess that it's my own love of floral offerings that colored this piece. I had a boyfriend whose only redeeming quality was that he could be counted on to give me flowers for no reason at all. I was spoiled, I'll admit it.
As for Renard, I did write him as a romantic. I assumed that he's European royalty, and as such he would know how to properly treat a lady. That and he's a bit territorial, so the flowers are like marking his territory. Still, it's a romantic gesture, and as you said, every girl loves to get flowers.
