Oh yes, it is a challenge to work with characters from before the war. What is someone really like, if you strip away a couple million years of warfare? Tricky business, to be sure! And you do a fantastic job of it -- the intensity, the curiosity is still strongly there, and so too are the hooks for hatred and jealousy.... very pretty.
I like your choice of title, too. Don't know if you remember, but there's that saying... something about women holding up half the sky? The idea being, I suppose, that one side alone is never complete, can never accomplish what it must, without the other. Cybertron might not have the right atmosphere for a sky, as such, but canon does have it nurturing the stars. Really pretty.
I keep thinking about what you said. I'd never heard about holding up half the sky, but its beautiful in its poetry, and I've gotten kind of enamored with the concept. Thanks so much for mentioning it, because I'd have otherwise never known! Especially with how the war later proceeds, and how, in every universe, the development of Cybertronians becomes so centralized to the intrinsic conflict between Autobot and Decepticon, it forms a striking duality. That...both sides aren't even complete without each other. "Till all are one."
Yeah. That race... had a destiny. Maybe still does, no matter if only a handful of them are left. It's kinda sad -- the more we get into pre-civil war cybertron, the more I wanna clunk some helms together. The societal problems are so deep, so complex... just one small bad decision after another, yanno? You can see how things end up where they do... but also where they could have gone. Very sad. :
