This is fabulous. Oh Yuletide Author, whoever you are, you got bits of the poem in there (I noticed). Your story definitely covered the flavor of the poem itself. And I esp. like the scandalous gossip of the characters about the withered vines and the desperation in winter. (I will leave more detailed feedback later, but I wanted to drop a little something by before I had a chance to leave the detailed kind of feedback. I adore the poem this is based on, and I'm thrilled to get any fic from it, but even more thrilled to get good fic from it. Thank you so very much for my present.
Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I had such fun writing it, although for a while there I will admit I was despairing of ever producing anything that would hold a candle to the poem.
