Will you believe I actually spent quite a few hours angsting over this fic and whether or not it was good enough to gift it to you? I'm used to a fairly long writing cycle, even for short stories, going through multiple reediting stages, and this was the first fic where there was simply no time for any of that! (Why, no, I've never done anything remotely like a pinch hit before, why do you ask? :) ) I was incredibly lucky to find a last-minute beta who provided much-needed encouragement and some suggestions for quick fixes, but I was still all wibbly and nervous by the time I posted this. Reading your lovely and thoughtful comment was such a relief, I can't tell you! But I had a great time writing this, and I loved getting to explore a set characters whose POV I'd never written before: Sarah and Harry, but particularly Audrey, who turned out to be an absolute joy to write! All in all, I still wish the story had been a bit sharper/wittier/more coherent than it ended up being, so here's a open question to you: would you like me to polish up the story a little more for you? Or do you prefer to keep it as it is? It's really entirely your call, I'd happily conform to either answer. Thanks again for being such a kind and gracious recipient!
