Thank you! And, well, I suppose any post-series Twin Peaks story is likely to explore certain ideas and touch on certain topics (there are only so many radically different ways to resolve Cooper's storyline, after all) but that's exactly one of the reasons why I love seeing different people's perspectives on those events! Also, 'cheap tricks' in what way? I don't recall thinking at any point in your story that you were going for a 'cheap' or 'easy' solution, on the contrary; I adored how you explored those different angles and outcomes!
Thank you! -- I really felt like it was cheap to tell so much of it from Coop's perspective -- I did it just because I couldn't manage to write in third person in a way that I thought was sufficiently Lynchian. But you managed to third-person it all the way: wow!
You know, that's very interesting, because I remember having struggled for quite some time to write a Cooper that felt right to me. I've always felt he's a mix of quirky and serious that's pretty hard to get right, but you nailed him from the get-go! In fact, my own entry character to Twin Peaks was Albert, not Cooper, for exactly that reason;the guy's much less ethereal and more down-to-earth, which made writing him seem a lot less daunting to me than diving straight in with Cooper and all his oddities. Kind of the opposite reasoning from yours, I guess. :) I did find the courage to tackle a few character voices in this piece that I'd never tackled before: Sarah Palmer, but also Harry and Audrey, whom I'd written about before but not from their POV. I'm really happy the tone and characterization worked for you!
Incidentally, would you mind if I friended your journal? I'm always happy to find other Twin Peaks fans to talk to. :)
