    I completely blanked at how to make it close to Shards, honestly. Aral is all newly-wed at first, and then there's the war and Miles and then Aral dumps ImpSec in Simon's lap and says "clean up time!" Unless this is the AU where the head bodyguard tends to sleep with the Vor lord they're protecting due to some kind of "but it'll make them be better guards if they have a special bond!" which translates into the obvious power dynamics and consent issues, but... not that I'm writing this.

     

    And Aral would totally seduce him again. Such a hardship. "you don't remember the first time we did X? NO PROBLEM. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN."

      Well, Vorkosigans sleep with their bodyguards all the time (Elli, Taura...), perhaps it's just a family tradition. (All right, now I'm composing that conversation between Miles and Aral, 'you need to understand, son, it's important to make sure your bodyguard is fully devoted to your interests' and Miles is WTF YOU SLEPT WITH UNCLE SIMON?)
