Belatedly answering these comments, finally, on a snow day! It is amazing to see all the other people who-like me!--were heartbroken by this book! Its so unconvincing, all that baloney about Sebastian being the forerunner to Julia! It's such an obvious classic "marry the sister who looks just like the brother!" And the novel never explicitly says that this ending ISN'T possible! So there!
