    I love this fic--it's got a brilliantly Georgian feel to it; the cross-dressing and the deus ex machina might easily have been something from Garrick or Kotzebue. It starts slowly, nigh-detached in the manner of a late-eighteenth-century gossip article with the names (revealingly) dashed out, and then there's this beautiful moment when Ash and the Herald meet and it's blindingly obvious that they're mad for each other and that she's brave and wise and glad--and oh, I adored the ending. This Herald is a princess well worth marrying. (And I should love to see what happens afterward with the war between confederations.)
