Fairy tales have always been a popular source of inspiration for fandom. How many times have authors placed their characters under the thumb of a wicked stepmother, or relied on True Love's Kiss to break an enchantment, or locked a damsel in a tower? This collection intends to gather together those works of fan fiction that rewrite the favored tales of our youth or create all new tales of fantasy based on popular fairy tale tropes.

1. What do you mean by fairy tale tropes?
See the TV Tropes wiki article. Common tropes: Animal Transformations, Damsel in Distress, Fairy Godmother, Knight in Shining Armor, True Love's Kiss, The Quest, Wicked Stepmother, Wish Granting, etc.

2. Is there a list of fairy tales I can look at somewhere?
See the Wikipedia list.

1. Stories must be either be based on fairy tales or incorporate fairy tale tropes.
How strictly you choose to interpret the original tales or tropes is left up to your artistic sensibilities.

2. Stories written for fandoms that are already fairy tale based don't belong here unless you are incorporating elements from a different fairy tale.
For example, if you give Aladdin a wicked stepmother who won't let him go to the ball to meet Princess Jasmine--that would be acceptable. Genie would make a great fairy godmother. A full-scale re-telling of Cinderella or Rumpelstiltskin that does not center around characters from a fandom that is NOT Cinderella or Rumpelstiltskin does NOT belong here.

3. You can add your story without my assistance.
This collection is not moderated, which means you don't need my permission to add, though if you aren't sure your story is appropriate for the collection I do ask that you contact me to discuss submission.
