What is the Transformers Summer Gift Exchange?
This is an exchange for Transformers fans of all continuities!
What kinds of work can I submit for the exchange?
Fanfiction and fanart are welcome! Mixed media works are also accepted, but they must meet at least one of the minimums.
How many things can I request/offer?
The minimum is 4, the maximum is 10 for requests and offers. You can't request specific ships, only characters and series, but do feel free to include your preferred ships in your optional details or Dear Creator letter.
Can I specify what type of fanwork I create/receive?
Yes. Please see the sign-up form for information when sign-ups open.
Can I edit my sign-up?
Yes, but only until sign-ups close.
What if I don't like my assignment?
To prevent this, only offer characters/series that you are truly willing to create for!
Can I ignore my recipient's additional details?
This is up to you. It's polite to consider your recipient's preferences, but it is not required. That being said, if your recipient lists dislikes, NOTPs, or triggers, please DO honor those.
Can I make more than one gift?
Yes! You can create treats for your recipient and other people (check out the requests summary in the sidebar after assignments are sent out), as long as you complete the required main gift. There are no minimum requirements for treats, but make sure that your treat is labeled as such!
-Fanfic must be at least 1,000 words in English.
-Fanart must be finished (no sketches) and at least 500x500 pixels in size.
-Mixed media works must adhere to at least one of these minimums.
-There is no maximum work limit.
-Gifts must also be clearly recognizable as fanwork for the fandom and characters specified.
Each recipient will only have one creator assigned to them, and vice versa. So you will only be required to create something for one person, but you can create more works if you want to--after assignments have been sent, I will make requests visible for browsing, and you may make extra gifts for people you have not been assigned to--these are called treats, and there are no minimums for treats.
You are only required to create one thing based on your recipients requests. It does not have to be the prompt you matched with them on. For example: you offered IDW G1 Starscream and Windblade, and you matched with someone who requested IDW G1 Starscream and Windblade. You see that they have also requested Transformers Animated Jazz and Prowl, and even though you did not offer those, you want to make something for that prompt instead of IDW G1. That is perfectly acceptable. As long as your gift fulfills one of your recipient’s requests*, you’re good to go.
*”fulfills one of your recipient’s requests” meaning that it a) involves at least 2 of their requested characters in the requested fandom** b) is clearly recognizable as being about those characters in that fandom and c) does not violate any of the Do Not Wants/triggers/dislikes that they may have listed.
**What I mean by “requested characters in the requested fandom” is that if someone requests TFP Optimus and Ratchet, and, in a separate request, Bayverse Ironhide and Wheeljack, you cannot write/draw something with TFP Optimus and Ironhide, or Bayverse Wheeljack and Ratchet unless they have requested TFP Ironhide or Bayverse Ratchet as well.
