Fusion with Inception.
It wasn’t Jensen Ackles’ first time working with Jared Padalecki. Jensen’s reputation as extractor of ideas proceeded him, and Jared had worked up to being a sought-after point man in no time—but despite the dangers of dreamshare under sedation, neither of them expected the mark to turn on them, and neither expected to be dropped down into limbo, the blank shores of possibility.
But Jensen’s secrets are too much for even himself to handle, and Jared finds himself alone in a world he can’t change, too afraid to dream. They have to find a way to be the people they once were, to remake reality, and do it on their own terms.

The Ackles family moves into the Padalecki's San Antonio neighborhood the summer before Jared and Jensen are to begin high school. Their friendship has a rocky start but they become inseparable by the end of summer. Each harboring a similar secret, they start growing apart as they join school activities and make new friends - until things come to a crashing, awkward halt at a summer kick-off party after their junior year. Nothing goes the way they planned when they were fourteen and they drift apart, unable or unwilling to find their way back to each other. But, when Jared learns that their estrangement may have been for nothing, can anything be salvaged from the wreckage of their friendship?

There are two things that Jensen knows inescapably to be true: his illness defines him and his father made him the man that he is. But the problem is that Jensen doesn’t actually understand the real truth of either of those things. In an attempt to escape his troubled past, he leaves home to meet up with an old school friend in New Orleans and ends up making a discovery which challenges all his preconceptions about his childhood, his own identity, and the distinction between myth and reality. Serendipity happens like that - unexpectedly. (Inspired by Val Lewton’s original 1942 movie Cat People and Paul Schrader’s 1982 remake of the same title.)

Okay, so maybe he has some less than entirely pure thoughts about said costar sometimes, but he's, like, eighty-three percent sure Jensen thinks impure thoughts about him, too. Sometimes. Possibly. His first day on campus, he meets a final-year PhD student named Jared who would be exactly Jensen’s type – if he weren’t a prime suspect. Move by move, like chess pieces, actions escalate, and the stakes get higher. Jensen and his colleagues are dealing with computer espionage, bombings, and kidnapping threats, as the institutions of government waver around them, threatening to fall. Ultimately, Jensen is forced to make a choice that pits revenge and love against the greater good.
