A very long time ago, Victor Trevor was sent by Mycroft Holmes to look after his little brother. Sherlock's years in university, his travels afterwards, his struggles with his brother and his relationship with drugs are not things Sherlock speaks of much, so John is intrigued when Sherlock begins to reveal things about his past.
John Watson can tell there's more to this story than what Sherlock chooses to tell. Slowly, in a story that spans 1996-2011, the pieces are fitted together.
Based on The Adventure of the Gloria Scott and the events of the preceding years.

Due to the popularity of Flirt from ALTER'VERSE I have created a University AU with John/Flirt and Sherlock as a goth/punk/emo at university.
John is a nice hetero glasses wearing nerd with a distinct separate personality called Flirt. Flirt is a homosexual raver who likes glitter and ecstasy.
Sherlock, recently returned to London at the death of his father and insistence of his brother Mycroft, enrols in the same university as John and Flirt.Despite his piercings and dyed hair, his black clothes and miserable outlook, meeting John and then Flirt turns out to be the very best thing that ever happens to him.

What you have to understand is that watching Sherlock jump from the roof of Bart’s wasn’t just watching him jump from Bart’s. It wasn’t only that, not for me. For me, it was also watching him not jump from the edge of a building in New York City, almost two years ago now. It was one of the strangest cases we ever worked on together.

Summary
Sir Harold Watson requires his younger brother John to marry for money. The wealthy husband-to-be? None other than Sherlock Holmes. Before the wedding can occur, Sherlock gets swept up in an investigation of random found body parts and strange letters addressed to him via Bow Street.
As John tags along on the investigation, getting to know his new husband, he finds himself in a London full of mad natural philosophers, rejected suitors, one overbearing brother-in-law, and more terrifying experiments than he could ever imagine.
Definite slash, though a slow build. Taking Sherlock back in time instead of forward.
