This is the Bandom BFF Fest 2012. It is a fest for gen stories about best friends in bandom. You can join the fest, but please make sure you also fill out the signup form!

What bands are included in "bandom"?

For this challenge, we're sticking to the following bands: MCR (& Killjoys), FOB, Panic, TYV, Cobras, TAI, Hush Sound, Gold Motel, Gym Class Heroes, Empires. This challenge works from the "Bandom BFF Fest 2012 Tag Set."

What types of works would fulfill the exchange requirements?

Any fanwork is acceptable. See the rules for length/size requirements.

Do I get to pick what type of fanwork I want to receive?

Nope, the type of fanwork created is solely up to the creator. Luckily, bandom is full of super-talented people who create all different kinds of awesome things, so you are pretty much guaranteed something interesting.

What if I sign up and then have to drop out?

Eh, it happens. Email lalejandra at aleuromancy dot net with the info about your assignment so we can make sure your exchange partner isn't left hanging. Sooner is better than later.

What are the deadlines?

Signups are open until February 27, and assignments will go out a few hours later. Then participants will have a month to create their works. Works are due March 28. There is currently a week delay scheduled between when works are due and when posting "begins" so that we can find people to pinch hit if necessary. If no pinch hits are necessary, works will be "posted" ASAP. Posting is anon; authors will be revealed April 16.

How do requests work?

You can make up to two requests, each with up to three characters. This challenge works from the "Bandom BFF Fest 2012 Tag Set" which means you can only pick characters who are canonically (per the AO3) associated with the bandom bands available for this fest.

If you're requesting fanwork about a band or friendship you know is more rare, please think about including a request for a friendship that is less rare. If no one offers to create work based on the rare friendship, and you haven't requested a second option, you may be asked to revise your request so you can be given a match.

There is a space for optional tags, which you're welcome to use for suggestions for whomever you're matched up with. There is also an optional description field. You are welcome to list up to three things you do not want to see in the work based on your request (for ex: No non-con, major character death, or romantic subplots).

** The optional tags and any prompts are not things your match is required to follow/provide; matches are, however, asked to please be careful with exclusion requests and respect that people have their own reasons for asking that works not contain certain elements.

How do offers work?

What if I just want to look at the signup sheet but not commit to signing up?

Clicking on the sign up link doesn't commit you to anything, so look away! You are only signed up for the challenge once you've filled out the signup sheet and submitted it.

What if I want to pinch hit, but I didn't sign up to participate in the challenge?

That's cool, we can always use more pinch-hitters! Email lalejandra at aleuromancy dot net with your email address, and when time for pinch hitting rolls around, you'll get the list of what we need. (This goes for people who are participating in the challenge as well!)

1. Don't be an asshole. Seriously.

2. Length/size requirements:
FIC: 1000 words or longer
PODFIC: Please record a story that is 1000 words or longer; your podfic recording should be longer than five minutes.
ART: Any artwork should show at least one complete scene. Whether that is one large image or a set of icons or a comic strip, etc., is up to you.
VID: A vid for the prompt should be 35 seconds or longer.

3. Podfic and art can be original or transformative; both are acceptable. Fic should be original, not a remix.

4. The main focus of the work should be the friendship between two characters. This does not mean the work cannot have romantic or sexual relationships; it only means that the primary focus of the work should be the gen friendship relationship between the two requested characters.
