Welcome to 852 Prospect: The Sentinel Adult Fiction Archive! This collection contains fan-written fiction set around the TV show The Sentinel. 852 Prospect is open to new stories that adhere to the original archive guidelines.

Original archive description, originally posted in the 1990s:
If you are under 18, or don't particularly want to read about the relationships of m/m, f/f or adult m/f couples, please consider visiting the Cascade Library, the general fanfiction archive for The Sentinel.

Open Doors opened the collection to submissions by original authors on 29 January 2013, and an automated import brought in over 4700 remaining works on 10 May 2013. The collection is currently open and moderated according to its original submission guidelines.

Intro:

This collection contains stories originally located at 852Prospect.org, which were imported to the Archive of Our Own through the Open Doors Project. 852 Prospect was run on old software which required manual maintenance; hosting the collection at AO3 allows it to be a more active archive and gives authors more control over their works. You can learn more about this in the original import announcement, the manual import update announcement, or the import completion announcement.

You can search within just this collection by using the filters. Click on "Works" on the left-hand side, and then use the tag filters that will appear on the right-hand side, or the text search box "Search within results". (You can also still search for stories using the 852 Prospect website, because links from the old 852 Prospect website will redirect to the stories' new home on AO3. However, please be aware that no new stories will be added to the original 852 Prospect website, so if you're searching for more recent stories you'll need to use the AO3's search function.)

Most of the newly imported works are currently unclaimed by their authors, and not yet visible to people who aren't logged in with an AO3 account. If you're looking for The Sentinel fic on AO3 that was newly imported as part of 852 Prospect, please search for it while logged into AO3. If you do not have an AO3 account but would like one, please contact the Open Doors committee or request one from this page.

FAQ:

If you still have access to the email you used to post your works to 852 Prospect, you should have received an email with the option to claim your works and edit them on AO3. If you do not have access to that email account, or did not receive the notification, please contact Open Doors.

For the first three months after the import, all unclaimed stories were restricted to logged-in AO3 users only, and were made publicly viewable after a three-month grace period (for authors to claim their works). If you claimed your works before that period ended, you will need to change the restriction setting.

If you choose to delete your stories, be aware that this will break the redirect link from the original archive address. If you have already uploaded a copy of your stories to AO3, please contact the Open Doors Committee here to reset the redirect link to point to the current version of your story. Please include the story title(s), original URL(s), and current AO3 URL(s).

For questions about using AO3, please contact Support. For questions about 852 Prospect, refer to the original archive FAQ, or contact the current moderator at 852.prospect.archivist[at]gmail.com.

Rules:

This collection will adhere to the original archive guidelines, posted in the 1990s:

* How do I get my stories archived at 852 Prospect?
Well, first, write a story appropriate for the archive. Almost all of the stories here are slash, but we also accept adult, non-slash works of TS fiction. Other than that, we will not accept stories that include real person slash, and we reserve the right to remove any story archived here should we feel it's necessary. We don't make a habit of doing that, and we'll let you know if we do (if we have a valid email address for you).

* But my story, where Jim and Blair declare their undying love and hold hands doesn't have any adult content. Aren't you just contributing to the prejudice in the world when you put G-rated slash stories in the 'Adult' category?
Once upon a time, Guide Posts did not have an adult section, and it was the only archive that would accept NC-17 stories in this fandom. Guide Posts is gone now but the other main archive, Cascade Library, is only for gen fiction. Do we think that G-rated slash should be just as acceptable to the general public as G-rated het or gen? Yes. Are we going to quit our day jobs to lobby for such acceptance? No. But if you want to, go right ahead. You have my full support; let me know how it works out for you.
