Five Cons Saved By a Kiss

Chapter Text

The "Oh Shit Wrong House" Kiss
To be fair, it wasn't their fault they ended up at the house next to the one they were supposed to be at. If anyone asked later Jean and Locke firmly pointed their fingers at the Sanza brothers and cited their revenge as proof of it being their fault. It's just a good thing the story of the young noble and his bodyguard sneaking off for a moments privacy from prying eyes was all to believable.

"This is not where we're supposed to be," Jean hissed even as he kept the proper distance a manservant would from his lord, looking around the dark corridors warily while Locke used that addled brain of his to get them back on track and complete the con successfully.

"Well this is not where that tunnel was supposed to end up."
"Shit someone's coming, into the closet."
They knew how to role with changes, it was a necessity in their line of work. Still when moments after they went into the closet it started to open Locke was surprised when Jean started kissing him right before the door opened. Locke knew immediately how to handle this, bringing up his best noble look while Jean drew himself up to his full height, ever the imposing bodyguard.
"Do you mind?" Locke asked in his best 'why are you still here' voice.
The door closed again.
Jean rolled his eyes and gave him another kiss for good measure. "Let's go find the right house and get on with this."

The "We're Innocently Sailing Along Nothing to See Here" Kiss
Calo was pushing the boat off even as Jean and Locke were getting in and Jean grabbed the wig and stuck it on Locke's head while Locke grabbed the clearly feminine cloak to drape over his clothing. Galdo struck up and romantic tune and within moments the pair were transformed from a pair of thieves with Guard on the chase into a young couple taking a night ride.
Jean draped his arm over Locke's shoulder and pulled him close, "You just had to provoke them you bastard," he said in a lovey tone.
"He wouldn't be our Locke if he didn't," Calo said, giving his own commentary as he struck the balance between casual rowing and trying to get the hell out of dodge. "Incoming."
Before Locke could say anything to defend himself Jean had pulled him into a kiss and all he could feel was Jean's lips on his even has he heard the people searching for them and the music Galdo was providing, could practically predict the twin smirks on the Sanza brothers faces, and despite his brain always working on the next part of the scheme, Jean's kiss managed to drop all of that. At least for a moment.
"Well, they're gone for now, but you're going to have to keep up the love bird routine, I'm sure you're devastated," Calo whispered.
"Next time you get the wig."
"Oh like you wouldn't kill me for making out with Jean."
"Galdo will just have to play Jean."
Before they could go on further Jean grabbed Locke and pulled him into his lap and cupped his head, making sure to take care of the wig, and started kissing him again, just as another boat moved past. They stayed in that position til they reached the lair.

The "Hiding Our Identity in a Dark Alley" Kiss
Locke grabbed Jean and guided him into the alley and Jean, knowing how Locke worked, immediately pulled Locke close to him and lifted him up pressing Locke's back against the wall. Locke gripped Jean's hair while Jean grabbed a hold of Locke's ass and proceeded to attack Locke's mouth with a ferocity that could only be born from a desperate need to both draw the attention of their pursuers and then be dismissed automatically as one of any number of pair stealing time in an alley.

After the idiots blew past the couple in the alley Jean dropped Locke and started feeling his hair. "You didn't have to actually pull hair out," he snapped.
"And I'm going to have your fingerprints on my ass for days, did you have to grab it so hard?"
"Well I could have let you fall."
Locke rolled his eyes, "Let's go see if they held up their end of the plan." He started to walk out of the alley when Jean grabbed his arm and pulled him back close, giving him a tender kiss, the complete opposite of the desperate grope session of before.
"What was that for?"
"Because I could," Jean said with a wink and walked away leaving Locke to follow.

The "Why Do Marks Change Their Schedules?" Kiss
Locke was the sneakster and the thief. Jean's stature just made it hard for people to ignore him so it was his job to be noticeable in such a way that people saw him and immediately forgot about him so trying to play Locke's never be seen game just didn't work for him.
Which is why marks changing their schedule in areas where Jean stood out was a problem.
Luckily it was also an area where there was one thing that could make even a beast of Jean's size could blend in.
"On the bed," he commanded in his best, 'I know what I'm doing, I'm in charge voice.' The voice that Locke dared not refuse.
"What are you going to do to me?" he asked in the best innocent voice he had. And he had a lot of them.
"Just this," Jean said, and leaned in and gave him a kiss.

The "Occasionally the Truth Really Is the Best Policy" Kiss
Between his stature and his inherent eat shit attitude it was often Locke who drew the unwanted attention and Jean who batted them off, often with the help of his hatchets. This is why it was a shock when Jean was the one who was accused of seducing a mark's daughter and Jean was the one who was drawing all of the ire. A shock that Locke was the one playing peace maker.
"Are you kidding me? There's no way Jean was the one with your daughter," Locke told the irate father.
"I know what I saw. Just what do you think you can do to convince me?"
Locke ignored him and turned to Jean and stood on tiptop to reach Jean's lips and gave him a long slow kiss.
"That's why," he said with complete certainty.
